Yes. Working with a therapist who understands sport makes a real difference. Athletes carry unique pressures that shape their mental health. Things like performance anxiety, the emotional toll of injury, roster decisions, role changes, burnout, and balancing sport with school, work, and life can show up differently than they do for non-athletes.
A sport-informed therapist knows the culture, language, and expectations of the environments you compete and train in. That familiarity means you spend less time explaining the basics and more time getting to the root of what is going on for you. It also allows the work to feel more relevant, practical, and grounded in what actually happens on the ice, in the gym, or on the field.
Because of my background as an athlete, coach, and social worker, I combine clinical skills with a deep understanding of how performance, identity, and wellbeing intersect. This leads to strategies that are evidence-informed, realistic, and tailored to the demands of your sport.

Therapy gives athletes a structured space to understand what is happening mentally and emotionally, both in and outside of sport. It helps you make sense of thoughts, reactions, and patterns that show up under pressure and gives you tools to manage stress, anxiety, performance expectations, and the demands of your environment.
It is also a space to work through the emotional side of injury, competition, confidence dips, identity, and everything that comes with balancing sport, school, work, family, or transition. Therapy supports self-awareness, goal setting, communication, and healthier ways of coping so you can show up with more clarity and consistency.
Most importantly, therapy offers a confidential and supportive environment where you can build resilience, stay grounded, and protect your overall wellbeing throughout your athletic journey.

Yes. A strong therapeutic fit is one of the biggest predictors of meaningful progress in therapy. Fit means you feel comfortable, understood, and supported. It also means your therapist’s approach and clinical background line up with what you need.
When the relationship feels safe and aligned, you can be open, honest, and more willing to do the work. This leads to better insight, better strategies, and better outcomes. The right fit matters just as much as the skills your therapist brings to the table.

Yes. Confidentiality is a core part of therapy. What you share stays private unless I am legally required to act to keep someone safe. We will go over these exceptions so you know exactly what they are.
Your privacy and trust matter. You deserve a space where you can speak openly and know your information is protected.

There’s no set timeline. It depends on your goals and what you’re working through. Some athletes notice shifts quickly. Others need more time to explore patterns, build skills, or work through bigger stressors.
We’ll talk about what you need, check in on progress, and find a pace that supports your wellbeing and the work you want to do.

I support clients who are experiencing disordered eating patterns or pressures around food, body image, and performance.
I do not provide treatment for active eating disorders. If you are currently struggling with an eating disorder, specialized care is important, and I can help with referrals to clinicians or programs that offer that level of support.

No. As a Registered Social Worker, I do not provide formal diagnoses or prescribe medication. My role is to help you make sense of your experiences, build skills, and support your overall mental wellbeing.
If you need a diagnostic assessment or want to explore medication, I can help you navigate that process and connect you with the appropriate professionals, such as a family doctor, psychiatrist, or psychologist. We can also integrate their recommendations into our work so you have coordinated support.
